Friday, Saturday & Sunday May 6, 7 & 8 2016
A Mother’s Day weekend cooking and painting retreat for women located on a remarkable farm on Martha’s Vineyard. Celebrate all that you have birthed and Mothered, whether that be children or your work in the world, your creative voice, the most potent and authentic version of yourself that is regularly being re-birthed and expanded. Join Jan Buhrman and Melissa D’Antoni in a weekend retreat on Martha’s Vineyard to empower, embrace, and celebrate our relationship to food through art while immersed in the diverse operations of a working farm. No art or cooking experience is required. This weekend adventure will support you in exploring your relationship with food, art and your body in a fun, creative and inventive way. The Farm Institute is an inspiring location, sure to nourish your mind, body and soul and leaving you feeling better than ever!
We will educate, inspire and empower women to embrace their bodies and sources of nourishment. We will be immersed in painting, cooking, community and pleasure and will tap into our innate body wisdom with an expanded sense and expression of wholeness.
Through humor, wonder, textures and tastes, we will tap into your inner wisdom allowing you to create and celebrate through painting and eating.
Discover your intuitive wisdom and the power of you! With Jan’s philosophy of ‘food is medicine’ and Melissa’s coaching in ‘ discovering your voice with authentic self expression’, we will create a day of exploration surrounded in the natural beauty of The Farm Institute.
The Farm Institute is a teaching farm which raises pastured heritage breeds of poultry, pork, beef cattle and sheep. Hay is grown in the fields and mixed produce in the garden and greenhouses. The meals we share together will be harvested directly from the farm. We want to share the importa
nce of supporting the local food system and how doing so supports our physical being and creative selves.
“The only way I see people make lasting change, is by connecting to their spirit. When there’s the awareness that we are more than just bodies, that we are spirit embodied in physical form, it changes how we relate to ourselves. It wakes us up, makes us consider our choices and how to care for ourselves in ways that truly align with the spirit.” Halé Sofia Schatz
This workshop is an opportunity to explore. Jan will guide you in connecting your senses from farm to kitchen to table in an inspiring and educational demonstration on the powerful resource our connection to food can bring to our health and well-being as well as to the planet.
You will have a private paper canvas, plenty of paints and materials, and the expert guidance of Melissa surrounded by a garden full of island vegetables and animals.
Stretch your imagination and experience how creativity can inspire clarity, passion, purpose and the ability to overcome obstacles. Nutritious, yummy nourishing foods from The Farm Institute, will cascade our table. No artistic experience or skill level is necessary, as the workshop will focus on the process of breaking through limiting beliefs and discovery.
“Transformational nourishment means that our bodies, hearts, minds, and spirits are open and willing to take in the nourishment that’s offered. To do this, we have to believe that we are valuable and worthy to receive.”— from If the Buddha Came to Dinner
“This year I took up “process painting”— just taking a brush to paper and allowing my inner self to choose the colors, the shapes, and the timing. WOW! I have loved this process. I realized that everyone – myself included — is born creative. We all have individual styles. And, they are expressed in a way that no one else can possibly imitate. I have found this exhilarating.” – Christiane Northrup
Praise for Eat Paint Love your Body
“Exploring my creative side beyond my own imposed boundaries was scary but I embraced the challenge. It was a challenge for me to allow myself the opportunity for this type of self exploration. Attending Eat, Paint, Love Your Body was an incredible, fulfilling experience. I am so glad I did it and look forward to attending this next event that explores Food & Art as Nourishment! Jan and Melissa have created a safe, fun, welcoming approach to exploring your creative side through food and art. It was fantastic!”
